Back in Barbados, you wrote your music, and then you played it. Things were much simpler back there. WILLIAM WHITE's debut solo album UNDONE (2005) sold Gold in Switzerland, or rather, would have if he'd sold it thru the regular channels. Fed up with Big-Music, a seasoned musician, William and his wife bundled up their savings, pressed a bunch of CDs with homemade graphics, pressed them in the Czech Republic for a-buck-a-piece, and sold them hand-over-fist at festivals and thru a local distributor. In his mid-thirties, married with a child, a second on the way, he'd been around the block more than once, and knew that there wasn't much he couldn't do himself. The definitive DIY (do it yourself) artist, the talented and truly inspired WILLIAM WHITE writes his songs, he sings them, and he even produces them himself: pressing record, singing, playing guitar, bass and drums. He's the real deal. But more than anything else, it's his massively convincing live performance that woos his fans and sells his CDs. With his 8 piece band, as a quartet, or even solo, there are very few artists whom fans clammer to the merch stand. Even a bemused BEN HARPER stood by as he watched his support act sell 125 CDs at his merch stand before selling out with another 100 of his fans queuing for more. By the time William finished his candidly autobiographical follow-up album, EVOLUTION, a cottage industry had blossomed around him, and tours and headlining gigs pursued.
